Our consulting services include art direction, content development, information architecture design and strategy, prototyping, wireframing, and usability audits of existing web sites.
And we can help you select and register your domain (your web site address), provide hosting, set up email addresses, and more.
Do I really need a web site?
Your patrons will look for you on the Web, even if they just need your phone number, location, or hours of operation—so why not give it to them? An efficient online presence can also provide time sensitive information, increase product and service awareness, and even gather feedback.
Why is simple better?
We believe a minimalist solution is often the most effective. Reducing the number of unnecessary elements in a design helps to focus the reader's attention on content and functionality. Clean aesthetics remove distraction and increase a design's efficiency, resulting in a satisfying and positive experience.
A simple design supports the concept of Universal Design. In the case of our studio, it means designing web sites to be as usable as possible by as many people as possible. (Curious? Learn more about Universal Design)
About our studio
Our studio was originally established with a focus on websites for photographers and artists, nonprofit organizations, and cultural institutions. Since then the studio has expanded its clientele to include a diverse range of local businesses and retail establishments.
We collaborate regularly with other accomplished design professionals in the Central Ohio area to deliver a comprehensive set of communication solutions.
We also frequently work with local design firms and independent designers (such as Attaché, CAM Design, and Red Minnow) who are in need of someone who can translate their designs into standards compliant HTML and CSS while maintaining the integrity of their design.
We are currently a member of AIGA Cincinnati, Columbus Society of Communicating Arts (CSCA), Information Architecture Institute (IAI), and Interaction Design Association (IxDA).
Lance Osborne is a user interface designer, information architect, and HTML/CSS coding expert.
Lance has worked on projects for corporate clients such as CompuServe and JPMorgan Chase. He has also produced work for nonprofits such as Battelle for Kids and the Columbus Society of Communicating Arts (CSCA).
Prior to focusing on freelance design consulting, Lance worked as the lead User Interface Designer at OCLC. For almost ten years, Lance's contributions were instrumental in defining the site architecture and creative direction of corporate intranets, extranets, and online applications. While working with a team of talented writers and developers to achieve the organization's goals, he ensured projects were accessible and complied with current web standards.
Lance received his B.F.A. in Fine Arts from the Columbus College of Art & Design in 1994.
Where are you located?
Lance Osborne Design Studio is located in Columbus, Ohio in the Arena District. Our studio is a loft at The Buggyworks, a recently renovated historic warehouse originally developed by The Columbus Buggy Company in 1902.
